Day 1-2 Palermo
Despite being a big city, sometimes with intense traffic and noise pollution, Palermo offers a nice experience to stroll around from highlight to highlight:
Botanical Gardens: an open-air museum with different types of plants. On the way there, the Giardino Garibaldi square contemplates an impressive 150-year-old Ficus Benjamin tree. In the past, this square was the stage of bloody executions; nowadays, it looks like a quiet, fertile and relaxing area to wander.

The wide Pretoria fountain with Greek and renascence motifs
At Segreti del Chiostro, traditional Sicilian desserts could be tried out. The bakery is famous for its Saint Agata breasts and cannolis - two very sweet awards.
With Christian/Catholic foundations, almost every corner of Palermo contains a Chiesa. Cathedral of Palermo: one of Palermo's most attractive highlights, at his historical centre. The Palazzo dei Normanni and Cappella Palatina are also worth visiting.
Cappucini Catacombs: the most surprising site of Palermo to me, an 'obscure' place which contains hundreds of skeletons hanging on a catwalk-like of dead bodies. It can be overwhelming, equally confronting and impressive.
